The Milton Margai Technical University (MMTU), in collaboration with Caritas and the Christian Relief Services (CRS), has once again showcased its highly anticipated 12-week Fashion Tailoring Short Course students. This hands-on training program, now in its fifth batch, is designed to equip students with practical tailoring skills, enabling them to become self-reliant and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

The program, conducted twice a year from November to February and March to June, offers intensive training in various aspects of fashion design and garment production. By the end of the course, participants receive a certificate from MMTU, issued through the Short Course Coordinator and International Relations Officer Mr Papa Njai.

Speaking on the significance of the initiative, Mrs Finda Barrie emphasized the university’s commitment to skills development and youth empowerment. “This program is more than just learning how to sew; it’s about creating opportunities for young people to build sustainable careers, support themselves, and uplift their communities,” she stated.

Over the years, graduates of the Fashion Tailoring Short Course have gone on to establish small businesses, gain employment in the fashion industry, and even train others, multiplying the impact of this initiative. With continued support from Caritas and CRS, the program aims to reach even more aspiring fashion designers and tailors, strengthening Sierra Leone’s creative economy.

As the new cohort embarks on their training, MMTU encourages interested individuals to take advantage of future enrollments and be part of this life-changing opportunity.
